In this video, GoodDogZone's reporter goes to the water to watch Newfoundland dogs practicing their water rescue skills. Denise Castonguay, President of the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada, explains how the training helps to show the dogs' natural instincts and keep those skills alive. Dr. Karin Beeler explains the skills needed, and the elements of the water test. Cheryl Dondino describes the pure fun of working with our dogs as partners, towards a goal.

From GoodDogZone:

"Our cameras follow the activities of water trials for Newfoundland dogs, which must jump off boats, retrieve various things, a pull a person to safety to make the grade. Newfoundland dogs were bred to save people in water. Various of the participants¿ owners speak to the reasons that they feel its important to give the dogs opportunities to do what they are genetically bred to do."
