CastaNewf Kennels ‘officially’ began in 1985 when we obtained our first Newfoundland. “Panda” introduced us to the wonderful world of Newfoundlands, and we immediately became immersed in the breed, joining the Canadian Kennel Club, the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada, the Newfoundland Club of America and several local Newf breed clubs. Valuable information about the breed was gained this way and we didn’t stop there; we have served on national, regional and local clubs as presidents, chairpersons, secretaries and treasurers. Currently, Denise serves as the 2nd Vice President of the Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada, the President of the BC Newf Club, and is a member of the Working Dog Committee and chairs the Judges Education Committee of the Newfoundland Club of America. Denise is also a water and draft test judge in Canada and the U.S. We began our search for the foundation of our kennel and found her in 1987. Our first litter was born in 1989, and since then, CastaNewf Kennels has produced more than 75 championship titles and more than 200 working titles!
At CastaNewf Kennels, we believe in a versatile Newfoundland – one that is not only sound in mind and body and correct in conformation but also capable of performing all they were originally bred to do. We strive for a well balanced dog – comfortable in the show ring, obedience ring, in the water and hitched to a cart or just hanging out with the family in the living room. Over the years our Newfoundlands have accomplished much – multiple best in shows, multiple best in specialty shows, regional and national wins and multiple group placings and that’s just the show ring! CastaNewf currently has over 75 champions and 200 working titlists, to date. We currently have 12 versatile Newfoundlands as well as many that are multiple titled. (A versatile Newf is one who has gained his/her American championship, an American obedience Companion Dog title, a Water Rescue Dog title and a Draft Dog title). One of the reasons we love the breed is because of its versatility! Our kennel is a small one – we average 8 to 10 Newfoundlands at home and one, possibly two litters per year. Our dogs are family dogs – they live in the house with us. Therefore, our puppies are raised in a family environment – indoors with us where they are the center of attention during the 10 weeks they remain with us before leaving for their new homes. We enjoy showing our dogs in conformation as well as training our dogs in water, draft and obedience. We title our dogs both in Canada and the U.S., and in other parts of the world too! Our goal is to produce the best Newfoundland possible – sound in conformation, temperament and health and ultimately a family’s much loved pet. We take pride in the fact that we are always available to our puppy buyers. |
